SO. Last friday's Young Justice. It was amazeballs, yes? )

IN OTHER NEWS, I went to the comic shop todayyy!~

COMIC BLATHER BEYOND THIS POINT )

I've also been reading The Ultimates mini-series in my spare time. (Basically, it's an AU comic series, made up of multiple mini-series', released by Marvel. It has alternate version of the Avengers, called the Ultimates and is omg amazing. There's also Ultimate Spider-man and Ultimate X-Men, among others, that exist in the same universe but I haven't read any of those.) I really love this series, you guys. Everyone in it is pretty much batshit insane (let me not talk about the clusterfuck that is Betty Ross because whut. the. fuck.) (Thor. Is he a psychiatric patient gone wild or isn't he?) (LOKI. For dwell_ondreamsdwell_ondreams because, well, duh.) which makes it at times bizarre but it's also interesting and is something I felt was more adult oriented than your average superhero comic usually is. (Not as in rated NC-17 adult, but it deals with themes like abusive relationships, politics and even incest, all things that the average teenager might be less interested in reading about. Not that I know anything about the average teenager... but I don't think it would have piqued my interest when I was a teen.) It was written in the early 2000s so it deals a little with the Iraq war and what a world with superheroes response to war might be. Care for a little pre-emptive strike, anyone?

Ultimates I and II were good, III not so much imo (because they changed both the writer and artist, the result of which was a pretty crap story). I almost choked on discovering after having already read it, that Orson Scott Card wrote Ultimate Iron Man. (Basically IM's origin story for the Ultimates universe.) It was... bizarre, like a lot of things are in this universe. There was a lot of talk about brain tissue and regenerative powers and the fact that Tony Stark spent the first few years of his life painted blue... (I shit you not, this is all Ultimates canon.)

So my point? Ha ha ha. Like there was ever a point. Um, I've been reading the Ultimates and I like it. If anyone is at all interested I would be very willing to share (if only to get other people to chat with about them) so poke me and let me know. Ultimates I-III are all mini-series' (the first two are 13 issues each, and the last is about half that long) so it's not a hard series to get into, which I think is the one thing I appreciate about it the most.

YES, I AM AWARE THAT THERE WAS COMICS BLATHER BEYOND THE CUT. THIS HAS NOT ESCAPED MY NOTICE, I ASSURE YOU... #FAILBOATS

The State of the Kez

  • So I've been catching up on Doctor Who lately (I fell woefully behind halfway through Tennant's run and seeing that it's all online via Netflix (*fistpump*) I've decided to catch up again -- if you follow me on Twitter you are already well aware of this, lol) and it's been a maaaaad crazy ride. I've only just caught up to the beginning of S5 Now, honestly? I think the show is at times pretty damn hokey. The Daleks, the Cybermen (the Ood *shudder*), and if I'm honest I have never watched Doctor Who because I thought the plot was omgamazeballs. I watch because the Doctor is an incredible character and I like seeing what crazy shit they're going to come up with next.

But I really. Really, really, really. Just have to say. David Tennant's performance in the last few specials that ended his run? Blew me the fuck away. The scene with him and Donna's grandfather (I can never remember his name it's something with a W) in the coffee shop in The End of Time. (In fact, that whole Doctor/Donna's grandfather relationship was one of the sweetest most loveliest things I've ever seen, all my tears for Donna's grandfather. All my tears.) I have a lot of very specific emotions about that scene, and the way it made me feel, and the way it changed the how I saw the Doctor as a character and Doctor Who as a show. It's been a pretty defining moment in my Whovian experience.

And the last 15 or so minutes of The End of Time, totally bumped Ten up to my favorite Doctor ever spot (granted there's only been him and Nine but still, Nine had The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances and motherfucking Christopher Eccleston) which I really didn't see coming. (And fuck. Now I want to go back and watch Nine's eps. Fuuuck.)

  • GLITCH. OH MY GOD SO ADDICTIVE I LAY THE BLAME SQUARELY ON myuki_chanMYUKI_CHAN'S SHOULDERS. SRSLY. IT'S TOTALLY ALL HER FAULT. ...it's only been like two days, too. X)

So yeah, if youre interested, I've got 3 invites to give out. Poke me and it's yours. First come, first serve and all that.

  • I only bought (gasp!) one comic this week. The new Deadpool, obviously (it's Wade, how could I not?) as my brother swayed me from trying out Avengers 1959 (which we then later read rave reviews for online >.>) aaand there were no DC titles I wanted to pick up this week. But next week is Batwoman and Superboy which, fuck yes, I am looking forward to. o/ (Have any of you SEEN the Batwoman art? It is. Incredibly gorgeous.)

  • Other shows I have watched recently and have (mostly brief) thoughts on.

    Merlin )

    Young Justice )

    Hawaii Five-0 )

  • I read the most incredible genderswap!Tony/Steve Iron Man/Captain America fic the other night ohmygoddd. Amazing. Will rec at giant_recsgiant_recs asap but I just had to say it here.
Urm. yes. That is all for now. :3

  • You know, I get really crazy early in the mornings. Just saying. Thought I should put that out there.

  • Has anyone else out there watched Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes? Because it's pretty awesome. Mostly.

But I can't decide if I like Black Panther or Hawkeye better, though. Or Thor. God, I love me some Thor. It's hard to choose.

It's just. Black Panther reminds me of Batman, a little, you know? He's all silent and deadly and so fucking competent at what he does and did I mention silent? Plus, the guy is smart and has an accent and he's basically the straight man in all of the jokes. I love that.

But then, Hawkeye is funny. I mean, he threatened the Hulk. Twice. And he was even serious about it. Even Tony was impressed.

Plus, Thor. I mean. It's Thor. I kind of think he and Captain America should hang out together more. They both don't know wtf is going on in Midgard/21st Century Earth, so that would be. Haha. It would be epically funny? Yeah, it would...

  • I'm still reading DP comics (as evidenced by this morning, haha) and they have yet to get old. I reaaaaaally love Wade Wilson. Like till death do we part and for all of eternity, may our souls be forever together etc etc kind of love. Fantastic character is fantastic. <3

  • I AM VERY EXCITED ABOUT H50 COMING BACK THIS MONTH. September 19th guysssssssss. The return of madman McGarrett and crew is anxiously awaited. o/
And that's all I got for now. Will ramble on more random topics at a later date. :P
